Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, John Zorn) Kevin Rutmanis (Tomahawk, Melvins), and visual artist/drummer Gina Skwoz have joined forces on Last Days at Holy Slit, a completely nuts album. Below, you’ll find Kevin and Gina’s (aka Lords and Lady Kevin) completely nuts answers to our questions.
How did this unholy duo become an unholier trio? Take us to the beginning of Last days at hot slit’s journey and let’s walk through from there.
Gina was in Australia and Kevin had an idea for an album. Coincidentally Gina sent him some drums that fit his idea perfectly. Then Trevor sent us an email from the depths of Hell asking us if we wanted to work on something. We said come on up you devil and oh how he did! We sent song parts and ideas back and forth polishing each song into a perfect diamond. Hard, glittering, perfect! pSuEdO bEaSt, who mixes all our records finished the job nicely.
Name three highly random memories associated with the making of this album.
The surprising coincidence of Gina’s drums matching the concept, the magnificent enlargement of each song by Trevor, my cat threw up in the corner.
You ‘exploited’ multiple instruments for this album. Name the top three that you exploited the most.
Drums, strings, samples.
Name your favorite crazy album that has ‘something for everybody, or perhaps nobody.
